Our Story
Hello,
We are Alyssa (Ah-lee-sa) and Andy. We started flower farming in 2021 with a quest to inject joy into our lives and our neighbor’s. Having binge watched and read everything from Floret and the Micro Flower Farm, we sowed seeds in the ground and wondered if they’d grow and you know what, they did! They did, and we were hooked!
Since our initial trial we have expanded our patch 3 times. Our property is a half-acre, and we cultivate roughly 5,000 square feet. Though small, compared to some, it seems to be enough for us as we raise our 4 little kids. What a kick it has been to watch them learn the process of growing flowers juxtaposed with the realities of the hard work involved.
Despite our lack of knowledge on flower farming, we were not newbies to floristry. Alyssa started working for a local florist shop nearly 20 years ago and despite swearing off washing buckets…here we are. Seeing the growing side has only deepened our love for flowers. As a florist, Alyssa was used to working with internationally grown flowers and we have learned that the quality pales in comparison to locally harvested. One example would be snapdragons. Who knew they had a bubblegum fragrance? They are so delicious! So many new discoveries about flowers we thought we knew. Andy has gone along with it every step of the way and enjoys getting his hands dirty.
Over the last couple of years, we have loved connecting with people at the flower markets and with other local growers. There are so many growers just south of Seattle. It’s amazing, and the flower quality being produced is superb. Truly unmatched.
It may be a romantic notion, but flowers simply have a special place in our hearts mainly because flowers captivate us. They create moments that become significant. Whether it’s a bridal bouquet, a market wrap or a new dahlia variety, it makes no difference. They are more than just temporary art pieces, they become our memories. Lucky for us, those memories can be revisited each time you see or smell those flowers.
Thank you for finding us! If you are in need of dahlia tubers, annual seeds or full-service wedding flowers we would love help build those new memories with you.
Sincerely,
Alyssa and Andy
